Art communicates emotionsAbout
Artist’s Statement
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to paint.
When our three children became independent, I started taking DVC classes to improve my English and to study art. I took classes in watercolor and acrylic painting, as well as figure drawing and printmaking.
After seven years at DVC, I transferred to UC Berkeley where I was challenged with new medium: lithographs, oil painting and ceramics. I enjoyed the classes, especially since students were encouraged to follow their artistic desires.
Since graduating from UCB, I paint in my studio mainly in oil and acrylic. My subjects have not changed much: I love to paint nature such as flowers, marine life and landscapes. With pattern-painting, I express my inner self-portrait keeping in mind where I come from and who I am. Often these paintings convey my feelings, thoughts, and emotions during my life journey.
I hope my art influences people in many different ways, which encourages me to continue painting. I appreciate the support from my family, friends, co-artists and strangers who give their sincere opinions of my art.
